Congrats to our 1st Multiple Victories Workshop graduates!
Hooray for the 14 amazing community leaders that completed our first Multiple Victories Workshops! We are so impressed with the energy and enthusiasm they bring to their own neighborhoods and projects.
Our first cohort included folks from all over the greater Seattle area and came with projects ranging from a neighborhood block watch to a sustainability club to a community park stewardship club.
The Multiple Victories Workshops are designed to share Pomegranate Center’s decades of community building experience with local leaders, using their hands-on projects as case-studies and “homework.” Topics covered included how to:
- wire a project for success
- lead an effective community meeting
- build an early success, and
- create lasting project ownership.
And we have juicy conversations about the difference between community organizers and community activists, when to let a project die and how to not burn out.We got a lot out of these workshops, and we think our graduates did, too. As one participant said:
“You have deeply impacted the way I see community organizing. This knowledge will effect my community work and my own life.”
