Skyway neighborhood celebrates launch of community-crafted plan for its future
After months of planning with over 200 residents and 3,000 volunteers hours, Skyway, a neighborhood in unincorporated King County, WA, has developed an incredible community-crafted plan for a positive, equitable future. Pomegranate Center led the community through a six-month process of creating Skyway Solutions: a community agenda for revitalization.
Community members threw themselves a party on June 6, 2009 to launch the plan and celebrate their work thus far. The all-day event focused on “putting their vision into action” - work parties planted community gardens, made community art and cleaned-up Skyway Park. The day ended with a community-wide party with food and music to celebrate the ongoing work of making Skyway a vibrant community. Check out some pictures of the celebration…
