Medina Elementary School

Linking art with learning, architecture and community

In partnership with the P.T.A., Pomegranate Center helped teachers, children, and their families work together to integrate art and education into a new elementary school. Projects include: street lights made with salvaged “I-beams”; an amphitheater with a stage illustrating the ages of the earth; a large sun dial with instructional content about the seasons of the year; a painting made by hand and fingerprints of all students and teachers; and a P-patch garden with art inspired by kindergarteners. The generous use of hand-made materials combined with innovative techniques create a welcome addition to the stark nature of the new construction.
