Washington Park Gathering Place: 2010 Dig Fund Project
An amazing partnership to bring dancing and music to a misused park
Through a collaboration with Walla Walla-based Commitment to Community (C2C), Pomegranate Center worked with residents of the Washington Park neighborhood in Walla Walla, WA to transform a misused open space in their neighborhood.
In just ten months, Pomegranate Center worked with the community to plan, design and build park additions that would make the space safer, more vital, and filled with color and activity. In September 2010, nine days of intense building finished the project - complete with two shelters featuring salvaged black walnut tables and benches, hand painted banners and carved columns; an entryway, a 6′ wide walking path and a one-of-a-kind stage and dance floor.
